Graduated from the School of Architecture of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), where he taught for three decades. He is an architect and founder of the GPA&A office.

His works have been exhibited in Brazil and around the world, highlighting the Architecture Biennale in São Paulo, the Venice Biennale, the Buenos Aires Biennale, the World Architecture Triennale in Belgrade and the Institut Français d'Architecture, in Paris.
He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Fundação Oscar Niemeyer e of Fundação Dom Cabral. Founding partner of the Academy of Portuguese Language Schools of Architecture and Urbanism (AEAULP).
Gustavo is the author of projects such as Expominas (Centro de Feiras e Minas Gerais Exhibitions), the Monument to Freedom of the Press, the Japanese Immigration Memorial, in Pampulha, the Congonhas Museum (cultural heritage of humanity), Santana and Regina Mundi, the new Mineirão Stadium, the Guignard School (considered one of the 30 most relevant works of architecture in Brazil).
With 04 books published, his works have already been exhibited in Brazil and abroad, by the main websites, magazines and books of architecture and design in the world, such as ArchDaily, Abitare, Architecture Now, Le Mounter Architecture Mars, Architectural Digest, Enlace, Monocle, Architectural Record, Wallpaper, SUMMA +, among others.
