Paço da Serraria
It’s because of a combination of curve designs that the Santa Tereza Viaduct, the domes of Serraria Souza Pinto and the upward reverse surface of our project for the Palace are related, in a way that finishes, marks and values the Palace’s spot.
The neutrality of the volumes and the wide, ample and clean gesture bring forth the details of the Serraria building, not conflicting with it.
The dihedron that is formed by the annex creates the necessary framing to neutralize all the chaos and fragmentation of the surroundings, thus reintegrating the Serraria to its urban context.
The Serraria, which used to throw its view upon the viaduct, is now enhanced through the dimensional relation established with the new building and with the viaduct, so constituting a vigorous reference within its context.
