Centro de Feiras e Exposições de Minas Gerais - Expominas
The view of downtown for those arriving by avenida amazonas is awesome and exhilarating.
On the vast flat expanse a portal is opened on the scale of the set. it marks its majestic entrance, the main axis of all journeys. The idea is to create a festive atmosphere that extends over the spaces. The ventilation skylights on the pavilions, in rhythm, attract the eye to the main body of the building and constitute a playful game of forms.
We sought simplicity of lines and flows to ensure low costs and speed of execution without losing the a esthetic values and symbols required for a space that epitomizes the culture, technology, and economy of minas Gerais.
Therefore, we use an industrial aesthetic with metal roofing in 75-meter and sides enclosed with thermo- acoustic tile. it is a technological, vibrant, con- temporary image in volumetric harmony with the existing buildings. everything together reflects capacity, receptivity, and plurality in its proportions.
in fact, versatility is the main feature of this Center. There are three pavilions of varying autonomous sizes with the possibility of inter- connections through large sliding acoustic doors, modulated to allow for different arrangements of the trade shows through 5-meter deep stands and 3-5 meter-wide streets with a battery of toilets, snack shops, and rooms used for the core adminis- tration of the event. That way, we can have a trade show going on in the first pavilion, another one being set up in the second, and yet another one being dismantled in the third.
For big events, they act as a continuous envi- ronment accepting single promotion stands. The access gallery is in the form of an open balcony with 15-foot span and is able to receive different product stands related to the purpose of the trade show, but that benefit from customers attracted to them. next to the gallery in the lower level, the auditoriums and meeting rooms were set up to support the exhibitions.
Acoustic dividing panels are able to offer a variable sizing, depending on the requests and also the installation of electronic systems for simultaneous translation, audio, video, and lighting.
Spaces for loading, unloading, container accom- modation, carpentry, metalwork, graphic arts, and assemblers’ depots are located in pavilion basements. external access to the pavilions is clearly visible, contributing to the independence of each event’s institutional image.
The result is a dignified, efficient urbanistic- architectural set, harmonized with the preservation and enhancement of the Park’s historic buildings within modern concepts of urban revitalization, establishing a milestone representing the propensity of minas Gerais as a national center for exhibitions and events and implementing effective mecha- nisms and infrastructure for business promotion and development.
